Centre for Child Honouring calls for support to end all violence to children
The Centre for Child Honouring is a Canadian organisation based on a philosophy and vision of a children-first way of sustainability. The centre’s website says “Child honouring is a children-first approach to healing communities and restoring ecosystems. It views how we regard and treat our young as the key to building a humane and sustainable world. It is a novel idea—organizing society around the priority needs of its youngest members”.
The organisation is calling for religious and spiritual leaders to help in eliminating all forms of violence against children. It's time for faith leaders to stand as one in strong support of the world's children and for supporters to sign a plea to these leaders. Nonviolence is described on the website as being “central to emotional maturity, to family relations, to community values, and to the character of societies that aspire to live in peace. It means more than the absence of aggression; it means living with compassion. Regarding children, it means no corporal punishment, no humiliation, no coercion”.
